Is your water bottle killing you?
In a recent hormone test and DNA profile I had done, there were a few things made clear to me that if I didn’t change my habits I would have a higher risk of cancer. Ok, so I’m listening!! And I hope you are too….
I am the director of a Natural Health & Wellness company, ME? Cancer? But I exercise, I eat loads of veggies, I see my team for consultations and treatment, I play sport, I go to the gym, I do yoga and pilates, I work on my mindset and have goals and I work in a wonderful environment of course
AND I read labels… I buy enviro friendly, sulphate and chemical free products organic where possible, how could this be???
I just got lazy to be honest and wasn’t paying enough attention to all of these things above. I got busy. That’s not an excuse and I am feeling like a hypocrite at the moment, telling people what to eat and drink and stay away from and helping others be as healthy and well as absolutely possible and educating them on all the things I do… what happened? When did I stop paying attention? Whenever it was and however it happened the most important thing right now is to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Luckily for me I have this inbuilt tornado mode when once I need to so something – I’m on it!
What was I doing that was so wrong?
I was drinking unfiltered water a lot of the time and from a plastic bottle. Storing food and heating food in plastic containers, buying non organic shampoo and nice body butter friendly to the animals but what about the human? This may not seem like much to the average person as many of you may do this and not think twice. But in my industry, I have studied, lived and breathed this passion for helping people live a more natural life and prevent illness where possible AND made Natural Health my career. I have been doing this for a long time and I should know better.
So, what have I done about it?
Firstly, purchased a clay water filter for home, no plastics remember!
That’s good but what to I take my water in for playing hockey or the gym or when Im out?
Stainless Steel or Glass water bottle. I know I have a tendency to smash things and I ride my bike everywhere so not a great choice for me the old glass. So my great friend Raphs at Ecolibria thanks to his online shop page it easy for me to get a thermos for hot and cold drinks AND a sports bottle.
That sorts out a lot of the problems just by doing those two things. While I was at his online shop I got some more of the laundry liquid and cleaning stuff too
Better for humans and the place we live in! Tickedy tick tick!!
I buy organic fruit and veg and meat free of hormones. Ask for free range ( I am also caring for the critters and the environment ) and hormone free. Eat sustainable fishies, if not a vegan or vegie of course… Do your bit to help yourself and where you live and what you live with! Make a desicion to buy non plastic items, non canned items where possible .
What about the food storage containers? Pyrex of course! Remember those old days when grandma and mum even used these great contraptions? Glass and ceramic, well done. Big W sells these so no excuses of I cant find them anywhere. Its called GOOGLE people. You have everything at your finger tips now do get moving. Its not expensive to change a few things in your life but it might save your life.
Let me know how you go… ps… Have a look at more info on enviroestogens and cancer here

I have been treating patients with neck pain. It is a common condition and….
My name is Ebony, Sports Therapist at MNW and this week I have been treating patients with neck pain. It is a common condition and according to statistics from the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council around 10-15% of the population has neck pain at any given time. Most episodes of neck pain are usually of short duration lasting about 2-10 days and aren’t serious with less than 1% chance of …the pain being due to a serious medical condition (NHMRC). In most cases there is no history if injury.
The most common cause of neck pain is sustained poor posture. Neck muscles can be strained from poor posture at the computer, reading, sleeping in a bad position or DIY tasks at home. Poor posture causes imbalances in the muscle structures surrounding the neck causing tightness to build over a period of time. This tightness eventually leads to muscular spasms and decreased joint mobility that cause pain.
Common characteristics of
acute neck pain include: Stiff neck Pain in the back of the neck Limited range of motion Radiating pain into the head, shoulders and chest So you ask, how can I help you, well…With experience in treating acute neck pain and expertise and knowledge of the muscles surrounding the neck you should get relief from your symptoms after the first consultation! As neck pain is usually the result of continued poor posture or repetitive strain, I believe that although treatment is great and can be very effective, it will have a band-aid approach and high recurrence rate if the cause of the neck pain is not identified. Therefore as part of your initial consultation at MNW I will go through:
- A thorough history detailing daily activities and habits
- A postural analysis and muscle testing to identify the areas of muscle imbalance or weakness
- With our hands on treatment approach we will work on all the relevant muscle structures around the neck and any other related areas, relieving symptoms and increasing muscle and joint range of motion without any bone cracking manipulations.
- Furthermore we will work together to eliminate the causative factors, advise you on good posture, exercises and stretches to help maintain good muscle strength and balance. Thus decreasing the risk of your neck pain recurring.
Hope that this information can better help you with getting the right care for your neck!

Cure baby eczema
baby eczema specialist online
Cure baby eczema. Treatment needs to be holistic and comprehensive. So many approaches fail to address the complex set of factors that drive this disease. Inflammation, an imbalanced immune system and poor nutritional status are driving factors. The digestive tract is central to this condition and needs to be healed before the eczema can resolve.
The Patterns of Childhood Illnesses are Changing
Current implications for childhood illness suggests that diet and lifestyle factors play a significant role in the rise in certain conditions. This is compounded by reduced exposure to helpful germs, reduced vitamin D levels and diets high in refined processed foods that are high in sugar and poor quality fats.
Here are some fascinating recent stats.
- Allergies have increased by 7 times, up to 50% of kids have allergies
- Asthma affects 36% of children in Australia. In 1965 it affected 1.9%
- 11% of school age children are diagnosed with ADHD
- Autism affects 1/100 children. In 1985 it was 4/10,000
All these conditions share an underlying immune system shift. Largely this is driven by poor digestive function and development that is primed in the pre-natal period. We know that babies born under stressful circumstances, who are not breastfed and introduced inappropriate foods too early are more likely to develop these conditions. We also know that certain foods, natural food chemicals and artificial additives can do similar damage. Setting off inflammation in the digestive tract that affects brain function and neurotransmission.
The important thing is to allow our children to develop healthy robust immune systems. Here is a couple of tips.
- Avoid unnecessary antibiotic overuse. There are alternatives that are safe and effective
- Introduce solids to babies at around 6 months.
- Support immune function using a child/baby specific probiotic. (don’t by supermarket quality, these may be doing harm)
- Provide a diet that is low reactive and full of fresh, seasonal organic produce with a healthy and varied array of proteins, fruits and veg, grains and essential fatty acids
- Allow your child to spend time outside getting sun exposure in the safe times of day
